Barbara Corcoran - Author of "Nextville" "Nextville"...Where will you retire?

Barbara  Corcoran, a well-known New York City real estate broker, has just published an informative new book that attempts  to analyze where today's retirees are headed and why they are going there.

Titled "Nextville, Amazing Places To Spend The  Rest  of Your Live,"  this short and informative read offers a brief summary on numerous cities and small towns that she believes are attractive destinations.  More importantly, she delves into the different reasons that motivate retirees to pick up stakes and search for new places to live.  For an excerpt from Nextville...

Golf Course Living in Myrtle Beach Golf Course Living On A Budget
If your passion is golf, but those million dollar luxury fairway homes are beyond your retirement nest egg, we have some suggestions where you might fulfill your dream of hitting the links every day...and where the home prices are surprisingly affordable.

In fact, the four communities listed here are located in some of the most popular golf destinations in the country... places like Myrtle Beach and Pinehurst...yet, they each have great retirement homes available for less than $300,000.

StoneGate at Prince Creek sits along the rolling fairways of a TPC layout just minutes from the beaches of South Carolina's Grand Strand and the dozens of public courses in and around Myrtle Beach.  Camden Villas is surrounded by four fairways of Arnold Palmer's Mid-South Club in the Pinehurst area.  Greg Norman's magnificent design at Savannah Quarters is home to The Gates, where residents are just minutes  from the historic district of downtown Savannah, and only a short drive from the golf courses and beautiful beaches of nearby Hilton Head Island.

In the small hamlet of Opelika, Alabama, which Golf Digest has hailed as the best golf town in the U.S.,  the new condos of Hamilton Gables are adjacent to a challenging country club course and just moments from Grand National, the jewel of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Trail.

Small town life in Brevard NC Small Town Living...It May Be More Affordable, But Is It Right For You?

Many of the visitors to our website are indicating an interest in  the relaxing lifestyle, affordable cost of living and slower pace that small towns offer for retirement living.  While for the majority of retirees, small towns certainly have a lot of advantages, especially in view of the fact that more and more local governments and chambers of commerce are making a concerted to attract these newcomers.

However, before you take the plunge and decide to move to Mayberry, there are some important factors that every retiree should consider prior to completing that purchase of your retirement dream home, especially if it is located in a relatively rural area.  While many of today's new master planned communities and active adult developments have a first rate amenity package, tremendous scenic views and luxury homes, some of them are also not readily accessible to first rate medical facilities and quality shopping and dining.

If you are accustomed to having a good bookstore just around the corner or being a short drive from your neighborhood wine shop,  that hone on the lake or perched up on the side on a mountain may not be as convenient as you first thought.   And you might want to check out the produce and meat selection in the local grocery.

The bottom line is that there a lot of great small towns that are the  perfect place for retirement living.  Just do a little research and make sure that the one you are considering offers the things that you deem important and essential to your lifestyle and retirement needs.
